Proposición III.5.

Si EE y E′E^{\prime} son 𝕂\mathbb{K}-e.v. y f:E→E′f\colon E\to E^{\prime} es lineal, se verifica que:

  1. 1.

    ∀H⊆E\forall H\subseteq E, H≤E⇒f(H)≤E′H\leq E\Rightarrow f(H)\leq E^{\prime}

  2. 2.

    ∀H′⊆E′\forall H^{\prime}\subseteq E^{\prime}, H′≤E′⇒f−1(H′)≤EH^{\prime}\leq E^{\prime}\Rightarrow f^{-1}(H^{\prime})\leq E

Demostración.
  1. 1.

    Supongamos que H≤EH\leq E. En ese caso 0∈H0\in H y, puesto que f(0)=0f(0)=0, 0∈f(H)0\in f(H).

    Por otra parte, si u′,v′∈f(H)u^{\prime},v^{\prime}\in f(H) y α,β∈𝕂\alpha,\beta\in\mathbb{K} tendremos, por definicion de f(H)f(H), que existen u,v∈Hu,v\in H tales que f(u)=u′f(u)=u^{\prime} y f(v)=v′f(v)=v^{\prime}. Luego

    αu′+βv′=αf(u)+βf(v)=f(αu+βv)\alpha u^{\prime}+\beta v^{\prime}=\alpha f(u)+\beta f(v)=f(\alpha u+\beta v)

    y, como H≤EH\leq E, αu+βv∈H\alpha u+\beta v\in H. Luego αu′+βv′∈f(H)\alpha u^{\prime}+\beta v^{\prime}\in f(H).

    Hemos llegado a que f(H)≤E′f(H)\leq E^{\prime}.

  2. 2.

    Supongamos que H′≤E′H^{\prime}\leq E^{\prime}. En ese caso 0∈H′0\in H^{\prime} y, puesto que f(0)=0f(0)=0, 0∈f−1(H′)0\in f^{-1}(H^{\prime}).

    Por otra parte, si u,v∈f−1(H′)u,v\in f^{-1}(H^{\prime}) y α,β∈𝕂\alpha,\beta\in\mathbb{K}, f(u),f(v)∈H′f(u),f(v)\in H^{\prime}.

    Como H′≤E′H^{\prime}\leq E^{\prime}, αf(u)+βf(v)∈H′⇒f(αu+βv)∈H′\alpha f(u)+\beta f(v)\in H^{\prime}\Rightarrow f(\alpha u+\beta v)\in H^{\prime} y αu+βv∈f−1(H′)\alpha u+\beta v\in f^{-1}(H^{\prime}).

Definición III.2.

Sean EE y E′E^{\prime} 𝕂\mathbb{K}-e.v. y f:E→E′f\colon E\to E^{\prime} una función lineal, llamaremos núcleo de ff al conjunto

Ker(f)=f−1(0)={u∈E∣f(u)=0}Ker(f)=f^{-1}({0})=\left\{u\in E\mid f(u)=0\right\}

e imagen de ff al conjunto

Im(f)={v∈E′∣∃u∈E∣f(u)=v}=f(E)Im(f)=\left\{v\in E^{\prime}\mid\exists u\in E\mid f(u)=v\right\}=f(E)
Observación III.1.

Ker(f)≤EKer(f)\leq E y Im(f)≤E′Im(f)\leq E^{\prime}.

Definición III.3.

Sean E,E′E,E^{\prime} 𝕂\mathbb{K}-e.v. y f:E→E′f\colon E\to E^{\prime} una funcion lineal, a la dimension de la imagen de ff se le denomina rango de ff y a la dimension del nucleo nulidad.

Ejemplo III.2.
  1. 1.

    El nucleo de la funcion identidad IdE:E→EId_{E}\colon E\to E es el subespacio {0}\left\{0\right\} y su imagen es el subespacio EE.

  2. 2.

    Sea f:ℝ3→ℝ3f:\mathbb{R}^{3}\to\mathbb{R}^{3} la proyeccion ortogonal sobre el plano z=0z=0.

    Ker(f)={(x,y,z)∣f(x,y,0)=(0,0,0)}={(x,y,z)∣x=y=0}Ker(f)=\left\{(x,y,z)\mid f(x,y,0)=(0,0,0)\right\}=\left\{(x,y,z)\mid x=y=0\right\}
Teorema III.1.

Sean EE y E′E^{\prime} 𝕂\mathbb{K}-e.v. y f:E→E′f\colon E\to E^{\prime} una funcion lineal.

Se verifica que:

  1. 1.

    ff es inyectiva ⇔\iff Ker(f)={0}Ker(f)=\left\{0\right\}.

  2. 2.

    ff es suprayectiva ⇔Im(f)=E′\iff Im(f)=E^{\prime}.

Demostración.
  1. 1.

    “⇒\Rightarrow” Puesto que ff es lineal, f(0)=0f(0)=0 y en consecuencia 0∈Ker(f)0\in Ker(f). Si u∈Eu\in E es tal que u∈Ker(f)u\in Ker(f), entonces f(u)=0f(u)=0 y f(0)=0f(0)=0.

    Como partimos de la hipoteiss de que ff es inyectiva, llegamos a que u=0u=0. Por tanto, Ker(f)={0}Ker(f)=\left\{0\right\}.

    “⇐\Leftarrow” Supongamos que Ker(f)={0}Ker(f)=\left\{0\right\} y que u,v∈Eu,v\in E son tales que f(u)=f(v)f(u)=f(v). Entonces f(u)+(−f(v))=0⇒f(u)+f(−v)=0⇒f(u+(−v))=0⇒u+(−v)∈Ker(f)⇒u+(−v)=0f(u)+(-f(v))=0\Rightarrow f(u)+f(-v)=0\Rightarrow f(u+(-v))=0\Rightarrow u+(-v% )\in Ker(f)\Rightarrow u+(-v)=0. Por tanto, u=vu=v y llegamos a que ff es inyectiva.

  2. 2.

    Por definicion, ff es sobreyectiva si y solo si Im(f)=E′Im(f)=E^{\prime}.
